Jim Downs named operations director for Choir Games
Jim Downs has been named senior director of operations for the 2012 World Choir Games.
Downs will oversee the event’s day-to-day operations, according to a news release. His prior experience includes serving as director of ESPN’s X Games, Winter X Games and Great Outdoor Games, project manager for 2010’s Equestrian Games in Lexington, Ky. and program specialist for the U.S. Olympic Committee.
“We’re thrilled to have been able to attract such an experienced senior operations director,” said Nick Vehr , managing director for 2012 Games. “Jim will lead the operational efforts of this historic event. He displays an impressive knack for asking the right questions, quickly identifying needs and solutions and digging into the kinds of details that make a difference when producing a world-class event.”
The bi-annual World Choir Games, which is put on by German company Interkultur, will take place from July 4-14, 2012 in Cincinnati. It will be the first time that the event is held in the U.S., and 20,000 competitors are expected to attend. Procter and Gamble Co.
