The body of a 46-year-old man from St. Matthews was found in the water near Cedar Hill Landing in Murrells Inlet early Sunday and officials suspect he drowned, officials said.
George Nathan Kennerly was located near his boat, which was found by other boaters resting against some marsh grass at 10:12 a.m., said Sgt. Robin Camlin, an investigator with the S.C. Dept. of Natural Resources.
Kennerly had been the water for only a few hours, according to Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson.
Kennerly was found near his boat, which other boaters found resting against some marsh grass just after 10 a.m., said Sgt. Robin Camlin, an investigator with the S.C. Dept. of Natural Resources.
Kennerly had been the water for a few hours, Johnson said.
A passing boater saw an empty boat in Oak Creek and called officials, officials said.
The boat was upright, Camlin said.
Kennerly's body was found about a half mile from Cedar Hill Landing, a private boat landing, Johnson said.
Fishing equipment and a small amount of alcohol were found in the boat. But Johnson said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in Kennerly's death.
